Across continents and centuries, human communities preserved memories of a world in which the boundary between the human and the sacred was thinner: beings descended, knowledge crossed the boundary, giants and culture-bringers walked the first ages, catastrophe remade the world, and heaven grew distant. These traditions do not tell one interchangeable story. This Atlas places them near one another without erasing what makes each distinct.
